Singer detail and invitation below
Note from Dan Wolfgram, Director
Dear Singers, December 2022
I hope this singer invitation letter finds you in good health and even better spirits. Oh, how I have missed you and your voices! I wanted to extend to you an official invitation to join the Waupaca Community Chorus for what promises to be an enjoyable and memorable 60th Anniversary Concert. Due to Covid-19, we were on hiatus in 2019, and 2020. We returned last year with a smaller choir and performed favorite folk songs, anthems, hymns, and patriotic numbers. We used two pianos for accompaniment, and the concert was received well by the audience.
This year I am looking to return to our roots with a performance slated with an orchestra. Since we were fewer in numbers last year we needed to pivot and reprogram half-way through the rehearsal process. Not knowing our potential numbers for this year, I am programming two masterworks that the choir has performed in the past –Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria and the Faure’ Requiem and the Vivaldi Gloria. The concert weekend is slated for Saturday, April 1st (dress rehearsal) and the concert on Sunday, April 2 at 2:30 PM in the Waupaca High School PAC.
Our first rehearsal will be Tuesday, January 10th in the choir room of Waupaca High School. The scores will be on sale in the Commons/Lobby Hallway of the high school from 6:45 to 7:30 PM with a rehearsal from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. Tuesday rehearsals will be from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Masking is optional, and we welcome all ages!
The cost of music and participation will be $27.00 You are welcome to use your own personal scores from previous performances. The choir library does own a few copies of each work if you are financially challenged. These will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. If you are using your own score or borrowing from the choir library, we ask that you contribute $5.00 for membership dues.
I also want to address the issue of weather and attendance. In past years, it was reported to me that many members felt that due to poor weather conditions early in the rehearsal schedule, they chose not to join. While attendance at rehearsals is important to our journey together, do not let a few missed rehearsals due to poor weather or vacation plans prohibit you from being a member of this experience!
Don’t miss this, our 60th Anniversary Concert celebrating these great choral works. Do pass the invitation to any singers in the area to join your Community Choir. Our mailing list has gone through significant versions over the past several years, and we don’t want anyone who did not receive a letter feel as though they are not welcome. Previous experience and audition are not required. Bring a new friend; we are always seeking energetic new members.
