Community Choir and Orchestra Concert Tickets Go on Sale!

On April 7th, the Waupaca Community Chorus and Civic Orchestra Concert will return to the stage of the Waupaca High School Performing Arts Center to celebrate its 61st Anniversary. The concert begins at 2:30 p.m.

The theme of the concert this year is dubbed, “Mostly Mozart!” and will bring back a classic in the realm of choral literature, as well as feature the choir in a few new selections, and feature soloists. Under the direction of Dan Wolfgram, the choir is returning to its roots of performing choral masterworks with a full symphony orchestra.

The program will consist of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem, Ave Verum Corpus, and conclude with The Awakening by Joseph Martin. The soprano, alto, tenor, and bass soloists will also be featured in an aria of their choice by Mozart in the second half of the program. The choir is sponsored by the Waupaca Fine Arts Festival.

Director Dan Wolfgram stated, “It has been 15 years since the passing of our founder Gerald Knoepfel and the Requiem work was last performed in his honor in 2009. The Ave Verum Corpus is a stand-alone classic by Mozart and is very accessible. The Awakening by Joesph Martin was originally programmed to be performed during the choir’s Covid hiatus. This rousing and inspirational stand-alone composition is a signature piece which I will look to use as our closer.”

Tickets can be purchased at the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce, Waupaca Community Choir Members, and at the door. Tickets for adults are $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door while students are $4.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door. This will mark the first year that patrons will be able to use their credit or debit card to make a purchase at the box office window on the day of the concert. Seating is on a first come first served basis. Additional information about the choir and the Waupaca Fine Arts Festival can be found at www.fineartsfestval.org.
